    • After Trauma

Our Recovery Program incorporates options for those who have suffered loss, abuse or trauma, including trauma-informed therapy, grief groups, and survivor support. Visitors, retreatants, residents, and local communities have access to the pastoral ministry of our team, which includes Teresa Pitt Green of Spirit Fire.  Along with Teresa's twenty years of experience, our team is highly experienced with many years of ministry to the lost, the marginalized, and the suffering.

To help others in ministry care for those suffering now, we also offer clergy, lay ministers, and all Catholics extensive options in pastoral training and priestly formation for trauma-informed ministry.

Today we host daily Twelve Step meetings available to all who visit, as well as a broad range of Recovery Retreats for individuals, and pastoral care for clergy.

Our ministry goes beyond the Island as we accompany people in their healing and recovery process.

      PRIVATE GUIDED RETREATS

Private Guided Retreats for individuals or couples who wish to explore integrating their Christian faith into their own therapeutic recovery process following abuse or other trauma as children or adults. Duration is flexible and arranged when registering. Please contact our Programs Office on 860.536.0565 to speak with Teresa Pitt Green about a Private Guided Retreat. All requests are handled confidentially.

      FORMATION IN TRAUMA-SENSITIVE PASTORAL CARE

In caring for survivors of abuse and their family members who seek our support in Retreats and individual Pastoral Counseling, we also are dedicated to preparing others to care for the abused and traumatized in a sensitive way. The demand is great. Studies show that over two-thirds of people in the pews during Mass have experienced a life-changing traumatic event, within the preceding 12 months.

In seeking help, 70% will turn first to their pastor or a lay minister before they seek therapy or other sources of help. Do you know how to respond, not just by offering referrals, but also by integrating faith into the process of recovering from abuse, trauma, or devastating grief? Our formation programs inform clergy, lay ministries, review board members, and healthcare providers in fundamental best practices.
