Fr. Chris Murphy
Vocations Director for the Diocese of Providence
Fr. Murphy graduated from Our Lady of Fatima High School, Class of 2004.
He spent two years at the Community College of Rhode Island and entered Our Lady of Providence Seminary in 2006.
After earning his B.A. in philosophy from Providence College in 2008, Fr. Murphy was assigned to St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, MA, where he earned a Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Theology.
Fr. Murphy was ordained to the Priesthood in the Cathedral of SS. Peter & Paul in June of 2012.
In July of 2012, Fr. Murphy was assigned the associate pastor to St. Thomas More Parish in Narragansett and chaplain at Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick.
Effective August 15, 2014, Fr. Murphy was appointed Assistant Vocation Director for the Diocese of Providence, while remaining chaplain at Bishop Hendricken High School.
Effective July 1, 2018. Fr. Murphy was appointed Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Providence while continuing as chaplain at Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick.
Effective March 19, 2019, Fr. Murphy was appointed Rector of Our Lady of Providence Seminary while continuing as Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Providence and chaplain at Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick.
