A Father's Heart: A Year-Long Mission for the Year of Saint Joseph
Join us in the Chapel of Our Lady of the Assumption or online via Live Stream for "A Father's Heart: A Yearlong Mission for the Year of Saint Joseph," the first Wednesday of every month, throughout 2021 from 7-8 pm.
The 150th anniversary of the proclamation of Saint Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church was celebrated on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception last month. In honor of that anniversary, Pope Francis declared this liturgical year to be dedicated to Saint Joseph through his apostolic letter Patris Corde (“With a Father’s Heart”). What a gift to the Universal Catholic Church to have a year dedicated to the fatherhood of Saint Joseph!
In Pope Francis’ apostolic letter, he expounds upon the qualities of Saint Joseph’s fatherhood and how his fatherhood was an icon of God, the Father’s heart for us, His children. St Edmund’s Retreat will be offering a yearlong mission for the Year of Saint Joseph with a monthly Holy Hour with readings, reflections, prayers, confession and Benediction.
Our monthly Mission will include Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, a passage from the Fathers of the Church, a Saint, or a Pope’s reflection about Saint Joseph that is relevant to one of the many titles by which Saint Joseph is known and the spirited virtue by which we are called to emulate. Each month we will reflect upon a different title, a reflection/homily, opportunities for private and community prayer and the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available. We will close the evening with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
