A Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth
Sister Anita is a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, New Jersey. She is the author of Night Vision…Praying through Change (Paulist Press) and several other books which are listed below. These focus on meditation and spiritual reflection in everyday life. For ten years, Sister Anita was also the editor for Living the Days of Lent, a Paulist Press publication. Her initial ministry as teacher soon moved toward ministry to adults, serving as Administrator of the Cursillo Movement in the Paterson Diocese of New Jersey. With a strong vision of women in pastoral ministry, she began many years as a pastoral associate within the diocese. There, Sister Anita focused on ministry to the homebound, seniors, baptism preparation, bereavement, adult education, pastoral counseling, spiritual direction, R.C.I.A and Liturgy.
In 1992, Sister Anita became Director of Pastoral Care at Saint Anne Villa, the healthcare facility for her Congregation. After 15+ years, she was invited to become the Director of Xavier Retreat Center at Convent Station. Since that time, Sister Anita has begun a full-time Ministry of the Word. She offers retreats, workshops, spiritual direction, and pastoral counseling and healing touch. Her retreats vary from the seasonal Advent and Lenten themes to Women’s Spirituality, Transition, Gratitude, Seniors, Mary, Contemplative Listening, Forgiveness and more.
At the invitation from the National Board of Matt Talbott, Sister Anita is honored to be a Director for Matt Talbot retreats. Her themes develop the topics of Letting Go, Forgiveness and Healing, as well as Emotional Sobriety, Anger and Resentment. These, together with all of her workshops and retreats, are offered within the tri-state area as well as Pennsylvania.
Sister Anita is a team member of Sacred Thread Ministries, a retreat team that nurtures the sacredness that is woven into the fabric of every life through spiritual formation and development. She is also on the Advisory Board for Lumen Center, a spiritual center sponsored by the Sisters of St. Dominic, Caldwell, New Jersey.
Receiving an M.Ed. in Special Education and an M.S. in Religious Studies from Fordham University, a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from An Croi spiritual institute, Ireland, as well as Certificates in Grief Ministry, Sister Anita brings a well-rounded and practical approach to her presentations and retreats.
