Description:

The Last Supper, also known as the Mystical Supper in Byzantine and Orthodox iconography, portrays Jesus at the center with the twelve
disciples seated beside him at the table in the upper room. They are celebrating Passover and sharing their final meal together before the
Passion.  This moment is particularly sacred as it marks the institution of the great mystery of the Holy Eucharist. It was a gift that was freely
given and one that we can receive every day through the celebration of the Mass.  
Approaching this icon, let us envision ourselves seated at the table and ponder what we would say to Jesus, knowing how much He sacrificed for ourselves and the whole world.  How will we be transformed by this meal and by His love and presence in our lives?
