Description:
Originally written in 1411 by St. Andrei Rublev, 'The Hospitality of Abraham' brings to life a challenging doctrine through the portrayal of
three identical angels representing the Holy Trinity. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit form a circle of communion, inviting us to observe and
participate in their encounter at the altar. Similar to the altar where we celebrate Mass, the altar depicted in this icon features a small box for the relics of the martyrs and a slain lamb, symbolizing the sacred and sacrificial meal we partake in. Take time to ponder the scene and ask yourself how you catch the gaze and come into communion with each member of the Trinity when you approach the altar and receive the Eucharist.
