Description:
The first in a series of 10 pieces on Sacred Spaces, this drawing was done in combination from life, memory, and photographs of a local
church in Denver, Colorado. Drawing on influences ranging from Antonio Mancini to Thomas Anshutz, my hope was to capture a deeply resonant feeling of space and tactility: these aesthetic and painterly interests allowed me develop a deep sympathy for what I soon discovered to be the parallel reality of the incarnation: who is more spacious than the heavens, than the theotokos for containing the
uncontainable in her womb, and what is more three dimensionally real than the physical incarnation of the logos himself?
